Announcing playtests!

Not all progress is easily shareable. Sometimes, it’s just me typing away, doing research, mini tests and such. In situations like this one, it feels like there’s fifty different things slowly developing in parallel, falling into place, coming together. But this week we enter a new stage!

Битка са Баш-Челиком (Own work, pencil, ink pen, and brush, probably 2018 idk).

Where is the game at currently? Well, the introduction is written, though it’s still missing some content and is kinda far from its final form. The character creation process is completed and the core rules are basically done, meaning the game is playable. This is the ‘engine’ of the game and while there will certainly be some tweaks I feel like it’s ready for a spin or two. At the moment there is only one scenario fully written for the game and I intend to test it a few times with different groups.

I still want to make a chapter detailing Chaos and what it means for the world. This will be something like an essay talking about folk beliefs, and it will be a justification for fantastic elements in the game. I don’t wanna say too much because I haven’t even started it yet.

There will be a chapter with NPCs, a chapter with monsters, and a chapter with factions. All of these are in some way similar - entities or groups for the gm (cool fun term pending) to use in running the game and creation of scenarios.

I also plan to include a chapter with magic items. I’ve titled it ‘the Tools of Chaos‘ just because magic items sounds so boring and bland.

There has to be a chapter with an example of play and some basic information for people who never played a game like this but I don’t worry too much about these, as I feel like they can be written quite quickly.

With that, I gleefully announce that PLAYTESTING SEASON IS OPEN! I’ll ask around campus since some people have expressed interest in trying it out, there are some Facebook groups where I’ll also offer to run a quick game for people. The goal now is to see if there is a fundamental error in the math of the game, if it’s close to fun, and get the initial feedback from players.

A long road is ahead, much writing still needs to happen, and the visual part of the book isn’t even started! So the journey goes on! See you next week and hit me up if you wanna play :)
